Your refreshing summer holiday
When it gets hot, Hintertux stays cool
When other places make you sweat, active adventures here are refreshingly cool. With glaciers, mountain streams, and summit experiences, we’ll show you the best way to enjoy midsummer in the Zillertal valley.
When the sun is shining down from the sky and the thermometer is rising, there’s no better place for a refreshing active holiday than Adler Inn in Hintertux. In the heart of the Zillertal Alps, nature experiences await you that will keep you cool and leave you with lasting memories, even in the heat of summer.
Early morning is the time to head up high – to the Hintertux glacier, where there’s snow even in July and August. The fresh mountain air at over 3,000 metres above sea level, the view of glaciated peaks, and the feeling of standing on real snow at the height of summer are unique. If you like, you can even strap on your skis or simply enjoy the altitude with a cappuccino on the panoramic terrace.
Back in the valley, numerous hiking trails entice you up to shaded heights: The walk up to the Bichlalm pasture and mountain hut, the fairy-tale landscape of the Zemmgrund valley, or the path to the Junsalm pasture offer magnificent views and natural air conditioning in the form of rushing streams, giant, ancient trees, and cool rock. If you prefer something a little more leisurely, you can ride the cable car or rent an e-bike – just ask and Adler Inn will provide you with everything you need.
An absolute highlight for hot days: a trip to the Schlegeis reservoir, deep blue, framed by rugged rock faces, and perfect for a picnic by the water. The more adventurous are drawn to the Spannagel cave, one of the largest accessible natural caves in Europe – cool, mysterious, and impressive.
Back at Adler Inn, there’s no shortage of relaxation. The outdoor brine whirlpool with its constant 36°C is the best place for tired legs. If you’d like a natural cooldown, you’ll find plenty of places to rest in the shade. A cool drink in the Adler Lounge, a fresh sorbet, or a quick power nap on the cosy lounger make your summer day complete.
That’s what summer feels like in the Alps – authentic, active, and refreshingly different. Welcome to midsummer. Welcome to Adler Inn.
